I told Dave that I wanted my favorite breakfast, Apple Toast, in bed. Now, let me clarify the Apple Toast for a minute because you may be thinking, "Ummm...what in the world is Apple Toast?" I'll tell you. It is a slice of toasted homemade bread (it has to be homemade, or it won't work) with some hot, homemade applesauce on top (the applesauce also has to be homemade or it won't work). You might be judging right now, but I bet if you tried it, you'd find it just as appetizing as I do. Dave told me that he was going to make me breakfast in bed, and Apple Toast isn't very conducive to eating in bed (you need to heat up the applesauce on the stove, and toast the bread, and I didn't think it would work). I told him that it wasn't a big deal, and that we could just eat it downstairs in the kitchen. He told me that he had a plan, and that it was going to work out great. I was a little hesitant, but excited to see what he would come up with.
I woke up the next morning to him setting up a TV tray by the side of my bed and the toaster being plugged in to the wall. He put my bread in to be toasted, and then ran downstairs to get the hot applesauce off the stove. And I had Apple Toast in bed!! What a great guy, huh??
Do you see how excited I am!?
After finishing my breakfast, I got up to get ready for the morning. I walked in to use the bathroom, and found this note on the toilet.
I quickly found out that these notes were all over the house! Dave had put them all over and written some of his favorite things about me on them. I had so much fun walking around the house and discovering them all. There were some in every room! Here are just a few of them.
I seriously have the best husband in the world.
After we got ready for the day, we headed down to my school to clean out my classroom. Dave took the day off of work to come and help me, and even though it was not too much fun to clean out the room, it was still so much fun to be with him that I didn't even care what we were doing, really. My cute little sister came to help as well, and she surprised me at then door to my classroom with a bunch of balloons and a present. I wish I would have taken a picture of her little present, but I totally forgot. She made me a tootsie pop bouquet, with a card that said, "24 sucks". Haha! She also gave me a present for our little baby, which I was really excited about.
On a side note, these are what her balloons currently look like in our house. They got a little tangled up in our ceiling fan that is in our main living room. We don't have a ladder that will reach this high, so we're currently trying to invent something that will help us get these down. Any ideas???
It was so nice to have their help. My sister took us to lunch at my favorite restaurant, Zupas. Yum!!! I'm still thinking about their yummy food. :) She had to go to work after lunch, and Dave and I headed back to school to finish packing a few boxes. The only sad part about my birthday was driving away from my school...that was really hard. I cried just thinking about how I wouldn't be coming back again, and I wouldn't be seeing my friends and co-workers every day. Change is always hard for me, and Sunrise felt so much like home to me that it was so hard to leave. I'm doing better now, but it was SUCH a hard transition to make.
My next birthday adventure was finding a rocking chair for our baby's room. That was Dave's birthday present to me, and I was so excited to go looking for one. It turned out to be kind of a bust though, because the places that we looked either didn't have any, or were WAY expensive. So..we're still on the lookout for a chair. If you have any ideas, please let me know. :)
When we got home for the evening, Dave made me Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner (one of my favorite meals!), and then we watched one of my favorite British BBC series, Little Dorrit. Dave is so sweet to watch all of these girly, British shows with me, but I think he may have actually secretly liked Little Dorrit.
We took a few breaks in between episodes to have cake and ice cream, and then 2nds of cake and ice cream. Oh, it was a perfect day, and I was so lucky to get to share it with the people I love the most. As I said before, this one was my best birthday yet, and I'll bet that next year's will be just as good. Maybe even better. :)
Jen! I cried leaving my school and knowing I won't be back next year too. I was doing okay until I turned in my keys to the principal...I almost cried in front of him, but I made it to my car instead! Weird feeling, huh? It's nice to know you can understand.
