Friday was my last day at the law firm of Parr Brown. I worked there this summer while I was trying to get a teaching job and until the school year started. I am SO lucky that I got a teaching job and can hardly wait to start, but I will miss seeing my friends everyday. I have worked at Parr Brown for the last three summers, and they have all been so much fun. I made some really, really great friends this summer and I am sad that I won't be able to see them as often as I did this summer.
Having a little fun with PhotoBooth. :)
Some of my other co-workers are leaving too. One is leaving for law school, one to go to school in Oregon and one is bound for school in Tennessee. Because so many people were leaving this summer, we had a party on Friday for everyone that was leaving. My boss made us a DELICIOUS ice cream cake (homemade!), and we had tons of cookies to share too. It was SO yummy!
This is my crew! (Minus a few...)
So...thank you to all of my friends at Parr Brown for making my summer there the best one yet! Good luck to everyone who is leaving and starting a new adventure! And for those who are staying...maybe I'll be back next summer. Who knows?? :)
On the way home from work, I had a minor little meltdown in the car. I was thinking about how sad I was to leave the law firm, but then also thinking about how I am a teacher now! It didn't really become official in my head until I no longer had to think about my job at the law firm. That job was over, and my next area of focus was teaching! I kept thinking about how nervous I was, and that I didn't know how to be a teacher, and I had no idea what I'm doing, and just all the million reasons why I should be scared to start my teaching career. I have to admit, I cried a little bit on the way home (I'm kind of a crier...), and was really anxious to see Dave. Luckily, I have the world's best husband who puts up with my misgivings, and is SO encouraging and supportive. He just hugged me and let me cry for a minute, then gave me a little pep talk about how I'm going to be great and should have nothing to worry about. He had actually bought me a book that I was eyeing the other day with the intention of giving it to me after my first official day, which was Monday. However, he thought that he should give it to me to help cheer me up, which it did. I have the most thoughtful husband in the entire world, and he was, and always is, so so sweet to me.
Later that night, we went to a park in our neighborhood to watch Back to the Future with our friends Jon and Mindy. Our neighborhood does movie nights in the park every Friday night. This one was a little unique because they also provided free dinner! They had hamburgers and hot dogs and ice cream with hot fudge! The food was great, and the movie was great too. It actually made us really excited to watch the 2nd one, which we are already planning to do next time we hang out with Jon and Mindy.
They had an actual Delorean there...Dave was going nuts!
Movie night in the park with our friends was the perfect way for me to forget about my stress and worries about teaching! I am so lucky to have a WONDERFUL husband and GREAT friends. My life is pretty darn good, and I am thankful everyday for that.
