Rick Steves

If anybody knows Dave, they know he LOVES to travel. Not only does he love to travel, he LOVES to plan the trip too. That is half of his fun, is just putting the trip together. So, it will be no surprise to find that Dave is totally and completely obsessed with Rick Steves, the travel guy. He has a show on PBS that Dave watches all the time. He has seen every single episode that has ever aired. Rick Steves focuses on Europe, which is where we want to go next year. We are saving our pennies for Italy next year!!

So, Dave got word that Rick Steves was coming to Utah to speak at the Salt Lake Public Library about travel skills in Europe. You can't even imagine how excited he was! He was like a little boy on Christmas morning ALL NIGHT LONG. It was darling, and I wouldn't have let him miss it for the world.

 Just look at this face! How can you say no to that excited face?

He talked for a LONG time - 7:00 to 10:30. Of course I fell asleep on Dave's shoulder at about 9:30 (my new bedtime), but Dave was wide awake for every word that came out of Rick's mouth. He was the first in line to meet him after his talk, and we even got a picture with him. He signed our Italy guidebook, and Dave was SO happy!

Dave decided that from now until our trip to Italy (probably next year, in April - April 2013), we are going to do one thing every month that will get us excited for our Italy trip. March's activity was obviously meeting Rick Steves, and I'm not sure yet what he has up his sleeve for April. All I know is that I have the cutest husband in the world and I love him - quirks and all! :)
