Happy Birthday To The Car!!!

This past weekend was a big one for our car. A serious big one. It turned 200,000 miles old! And still running like a champ! Boy, do we love this car.

We bought the car in November of 2009 when I was commuting to BYU from Salt Lake. Best decision ever!! We were a little worried, because when we bought it is already had 120,000 miles on it. We weren't sure how much longer it would last, but decided to give it a try. Little did we know how long it would be running! This car has gone through the commute from Salt Lake to Provo for 2 years, and has now gotten me through the commute from South Weber to Sandy for 2 years (almost). You may be thinking...Wow. Jen is a serious commuter. Tell me about it. I've been commuting for 90+ miles a day for 4 years now. Just put it on my tab, I guess. I definitely needed a good car that I could put miles on, but would still run like a champ. And luckily for us, we did. It's survived two fender benders, and two people backing up into it - took them like a champ. It's a dream come true car.

To celebrate the big day, we decided to pamper our little car.

We spent Saturday morning cleaning it out - vacuuming, washing mats, washing windows, etc. After it was all clean on the inside, we took it for a day on the town!

We got the cracks in the window fixed,

(I was amazed to see how they actually do a rock chip repair)

took it to the car wash,

dried it at the car wash,

and got the tires rotated.

Yep - I'm sure the car felt very spoiled. It totally was. Later that night, we had the birthday celebration. We made a birthday cake for the car and even had it wear a birthday hat.

Look at our car, all decked out for its big day!

Yellow cake + chocolate frosting = Heavenly.

You can see the big odometer turn! Here it goes from 199,999 to....

200,000!!!!! You can see the number 2 at the beginning had a hard time turning. I guess when you only turn once, maybe twice in your lifetime, you get a little stiff. It looks like a 7, but really it's a two.

Dave did a special birthday tribute to our car. I think he sums up our thoughts nicely, and for some reason I'm having a very difficult time uploading my video directly to my blog page, so I apologize for the inconvenience, but you'll just have to click on these words (Dave's Birthday Tribute) to see the video. It's pretty funny, so you need to for sure look at it.

We have absolutely loved this car, and are praying that it lasts much longer than 200,000 miles. It will be a sad, sad day in the Egbert house when it is no longer with us. :( Until then, we'll keep on driving!! :)
